If by machine you mean electrolysis apparatus then YES!

By running electric current through water, the following reaction occurs:
2 H2O > O2 + 2 H2

From this you can get separate containers for the H2 and O2, and end up with pure O2.

Now this is the first method that popped into my head, I am sure there are a multitude of other methods to procure O2.

Oxygen is actually a DRUG when used for supplemental reasons. Too much of any drug is bad for you. O2 toxicity can cause a lot of different things, An example is atelectasis( when part of your lungs collapse) This is due to nitrogen washout, your lungs need a certain amount of nitrogen to keep them open and giving too much oxygen can wash out that nitrogen. Oxygen toxicity can also affect the brain by making a patient stuporous, lethargic, confused and sleepy, it can even cause blindness (Rethinopathy) in premature infants. If it’s a COPD patient it can cause them to stop breathing.. Do you know the kind of of o2 machine he is on?

They already exist, they’re called plants. Photosynthesis breaks CO2 and H2O into Oxygen and Glucose (sugar). Plant more trees/grass and it will not only make your environment look better but also help the CO2 situation

As far as technology goes, Sequestering would work well by storing and using the CO2 somewhere, presumably under the ocean or other obscure places. Im sure a technology that mimics photosynthesis could be created easily enough, using solar panels, CO2 and H2O, and could create energy in the process, while cleaning the air.

EloiseG answers:

I’m not sure how to approach this question. Technically pure oxygen is not breathable air. That’s why you hear of getting high off of oxygen. But as far as separating water into oxygen and hydrogen? That’s a process called electrolysis. Basically you electrocute water and it comes out with oxygen and hydrogen. Of course, being that it is h2o, twice as much hydrogen is released as oxygen. Also i do believe that the gases will separate. One will attach to whichever side of the electric current is positive and the other to the negative.
Hope this helps

It’s actually not an alternative medicine. Hyperbaric therapy is simply increasing the oxygen available to the body under a certain amount of pressure. I’ve heard it as effective for wound care and other ailments. It’s also used for treating bends, when a diver returns to the surface too quickly.

There was a recent study of this therapy for children with CP, and the results were mixed, and some acrimony seems to exist between reviewers and researchers.

Oh you’ll never find a realistic study on anti-aging with hyperbaric oxygen or any other therapy. So let’s go totally surreal. One Hundred Years of Solitude surreal.

Last month a group from LSU in New Orleans shared the results of a butterfly experiment. Yes, butterflies. What a great idea, huh? Lifespans in hyperbaric oxygen were pretty much normal for the caterpillar and chrysalis stages but quite longer than normal for the imago: 19.4 days with HBO versus 14 days average in nature.

This particular group of winged insects lived 38.5% longer in a hyperbaric oxygen habitat. Fascinating. But you and I can probably count on better results with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and plenty of sleep.

TITLE: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in diabetic foot.
Author: Doctor N ; Pandya S ; Supe A
Abstract: To study the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions, a prospective controlled study was undertaken. Thirty diabetics with chronic foot lesions were randomised to study group (conventional management and 4 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and control group (conventional management). The patients were assessed for average hospital stay, control of infection and wound healing. The control of infection spread was quicker. Positive cultures decreased from initial 19 to 3 in study group as against from 16 to 12 in the control group. (p < 0.05). This difference was most pronounced for Escherichia coli. Also, the need for major amputation was significantly less in the study group (n = 2) as against the control group (n = 7) (p < 0.05). The average hospital stay was not affected. We conclude that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be safely used and is beneficial as an adjuvant therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions.

If the room is air conditioned, then there has to be a return path for the air pumped in (else pressure would build up in the room until it eventually exploded or the ac broke). This means that the air is recirculating, therefore there is no carbon dioxide build up or lack of oxygen.
I have a medical condition called COPD. I carry oxygen with me when I go out, but worry that tank will explode

I carry a portable oxygen tank with me, and also put an extra tank of oxygen in my car for emergencies. It is so hot in Nevada, that the temperatures can reach 160 degrees or more inside a locked car. Can the tank explode from heat?

EloiseG answers:

Oxygen is a safe gas as long as it is used properly. Contrary to what most people believe, oxygen will not explode. Oxygen does, however, support combustion. Therefore, any material that is already burning will burn much faster and hotter in an oxygen-enriched atmosphere. It is very important to follow these precautions so that you and your family are safe when you are using your oxygen.

THE REST IS JUST FOR ADDITIONAL INFO IF YOU ARE BORED.

Oxygen use precautions

Stay at least six feet away from any open flame or heat source (candles, gas stove, etc.) when you are using your oxygen system. If you must cook while using oxygen, make sure your tubing will not touch the gas flame or electric burner (tuck the tubing in your shirt or position it behind you).
Do not store your oxygen system near any heat sources or open flames.
Do not smoke nor allow others to smoke in the same room as your oxygen system. Cigarette smoking is very dangerous: sparks from a lighted cigarette could cause facial burns.
Post “No Smoking” signs in the room where your oxygen is kept.
Do not change the oxygen flow rate on your own — this can lead to serious side-effects. If you feel you are not getting enough oxygen, contact your physician and notify your home care supplier.
Never use more than 50 feet of oxygen tubing. This can dilute the concentration of oxygen that you are receiving.
Do not expose your oxygen equipment to electrical appliances (such as electric razors, hair dryers, electric blankets, etc.)
Check that all electrical equipment in the area near the oxygen is properly grounded.
Be sure to have a functioning smoke detector and fire extinguisher in your home at all times.
Keep the oxygen system away from aerosol cans or sprays, including air fresheners or hair spray. These products are very flammable.
Keep the oxygen system clean and dust-free. The person who delivers your oxygen will show you how to do this.
Do not use cleaning products or other products containing grease or oils, petroleum jelly, alcohol or flammable liquids on or near your oxygen system. These substances cause oxygen to be flammable.
Keep the oxygen system in a place where it won’t get knocked over.
Always store your oxygen equipment in a well-ventilated area.
An oxygen cylinder must be secured at all times; put it in a cart or lay it down flat.
Do not carry liquid oxygen in a backpack or other enclosed space. Carrying cases, shoulder or hand bags, shoulder straps and backpack oxygen units are available which provide proper ventilation for the unit to ensure safety.
Never use extension cords with any medical equipment.
Secure loose cords and extra tubing so you don’t trip on them when using your oxygen system.
Secure floor mats and throw rugs so that you will not trip or fall when using your oxygen system.
Be sure doorways, hallways and rooms can accommodate you if you have a portable oxygen system.
Notify your electric company if you are using an oxygen concentrator system so they can make your house a priority during a power outage.
Oxygen is a drug and must be used as your doctor ordered it. Too much or too little can be harmful.
Take precautions to avoid skin contact when filling your portable liquid oxygen tank, as frost buildup could cause injury.
Always have backup tanks available, and know how to use them.

Every city of reasonable size (say above 25,000 people) should have a medical supply store which carries oxygen. Unfortunately, you will need a physician’s ‘order’. You may wish to carry such an order when you travel, or the medical supply store should be able to call / fax your Dr the necessary forms – so long as you do not run on after 5 PM or on weekends. ‘On demand’ (oxygen only when you breath) oxygen sensors conserve oxygen so the tank lasts longer.

One time she got pretty bad and was taken to the hospital where the doctors put her on oxygen and she said it really helped her but ever since the doctors just prescribed a pill and they said if she has heart pains to put one pill under her tongue, if the pain doesn’t go away to put another one on the other side of her tongue and if it still doesn’t go away to immediately call 911 cause she may have a heart attack.
First of all don’t listen to that Michael dude that said oxygen will not help if your mother is having a heart attack. He needs to get his stuff straight before giving advise. The nitro is used to dilate the coronary arteries yes but only to allow more oxygen to reach the heart. A heart attack is caused by LACK OF OXYGEN to the heart mussel which causes that portion of the mussel to die called eschimia. Your mother needs to speak with her doctor and request the oxygen since the only way to get it is by prescription. Yes a person can become o2 dependent and in some cases cause more harm then good. But that would only be in cases with high concentrations of oxygen for long periods of time. I would try a home concentrator first and see if that helps.

EloiseG answers:

If you want small and lightweight, you’ll need to use Liquid Oxygen instead of a conventional E Cylinder on a Dolly. They make smaller high pressure tanks (C and D cylinders) but they tend not to last long in practical use. If your dad is using low flow, but uses it for long durations, Liquid is the answer.

“One liter of liquid oxygen equals 860 gaseous liters.” -as quoted from nlhep.org. So if your dad is running 2 L/min of oxygen, you’ll have over 7 hours worth of oxygen in that one liter of liquid oxygen.

You will need to contact your dad’s supplier, but they should be able to find you a suitable system. I’ll dig around and look for a few “links” to add to the source list below. That way, you’ll know specifically what to ask for.

Here, this one is good to define what options you have:

This one is a small compact design:

Emphysema is a specific lung disease and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) has many causes, like emphysema, and mesothelioma, to name two. They will most likely be on O2 the rest of their lives, but maybe not. They can get a portable tank and still live active lives. My dad is not on O2 yet (his pride!) but has been diagnosed with emphysema and COPD for 15 years,,,yes, 15 years. I never thought it possible. Until recently he pretty much did what he wanted, but it is hard for him to travel now..otherwise, he wood carves, and plays poker, and used the internet and his Kindle and is enjoying a great quality of life, even with his problems (he also has severe heart disease but is alive at 75!!!!!). He does not smoke anymore, and follows a ll his MDs orders, bless his heart…including being basically a guinea pig for all the new meds. And he is on a great cardiac exercise program, 3 times a week , at a local hospital.

If it is only when you sleep, elevating the head of your bed may help. It allows for more expansion of your diaphragm for easier breathing. Could be some kind of respiratory or heart ailment.
EloiseG answers:

Oxygen should only be used as directed by a doctor. If the patient is not complying with oxygen therapy, sometimes the best solution is to not have it any more. This is usually to the determent of the patient, but if they are not willing to use it as directed, it won’t be of much use anyways.

As for changing the liter flow on the oxygen concentrator, you most likely won’t harm him by doing so, but it’s set to that flow for a reason. Unless there is an order for oxygen that allows the flow to be changed as needed, it would be wise to consult the patient’s doctor before changing the flow rate.

If a patient is non-compliant with their oxygen, giving them a little extra when you can get them to wear it is not an effective solution. Your body uses as much oxygen as it needs, when it needs it, so you are really not helping to improve his situation. He would likely be hypoxic (low blood oxygen) when off oxygen. On oxygen set as per his doctor, he should not be hypoxic. Some patients would rather be hypoxic than wear oxygen. Also, some patients can tolerate a low oxygen saturation for extended periods of time without feeling terrible. If he seems comfortable off oxygen, I would leave him. Encourage use, but he has the final say if he will wear it.

Have you shared your concerns with his doctor? This might be helpful in assisting the doctor deciding what the course of action should be in the future. The doctor may know of a way to encourage compliance with oxygen. As for yourself, if you are licensed, please don’t risk your license by disobeying doctor’s orders. I would leave his oxygen flow as prescribed. If he wears it or not, you can only do so much to encourage him to use it. In the end, it’s his choice.

This service sends out a fellow to made sure the concentrator is working correctly, that the oxygen is really what the dial indicates, changes my filters, and generally checks this out. If you need one in your home, be sure to contact your power provider as PG&E in CA lets you have a better rate for electricity when you have this prescribed.

Can you burn water and make energy using a electrolyzer then burning the oxygen and hydrogen.?

Can you pull the hydrogen and oxygen out of water with a electrolyzer and then burn hydrogen and oxygen in a generator to make electric that would then run the electrolyzer? In doing this could you generate more electric than you need to run the electrolyzer? Making power from water alone. Please before you say that you can’t make more energy than you put in. Please think about what you are doing. The energy you are putting in is only to brake the hydrogen and oxygen out of the water. If hydrogen can be ran in a generator that would use propane and run at the same cu ft/hr as propane you can generate more power than it takes to run the electrolyzer. The oxygen is not even being used at this point and if you could use a generator that could use both the hydrogen and oxygen you could make even more power.
A little bit of info to help 9000w of electricity can produce 70 cu ft/hr of hydrogen. 64 cu ft/hr hydrogen can produce 12500w of power in a normal 4 cyl generator.

EloiseG answers:

Yes it is possible!
To begin with lets start this way. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed , but can only be transformed from one form to another
And the universe started from Nothing.
Nothing = anti matter + matter
what we experience is matter. That does not give us the right to deny the presence of antimatter. So logically energy can be created from nothing if we separate the negative out of positive. A molecule is nothing but when separated into atoms and ions its a lot of energy. And thinking that you need more energy to do this than you can gain is insufficient knowledge!
Please watch the following video to get more information. Its better to be a skeptic than an ignorant!

You might consider using N2 gas from a compressed gas cylinder. It is relatively inexpensive. You will need to buy a N2 gas regulator. Removing O2 from air is really problematic. The other component of air that must be removed is water.

EloiseG answers:

No! You need something that ‘burns’ in the oxygen. Hydrolysing water to get Hydrogen is wasteful as the oxygen is available from the atmosphere.
Did you see the guy who had a LPG powered car had a leak and when he lit a cigarette blew himself and the car up? Hydrogen is even more of a problem as it cannot be liquefied at reasonable pressures and is stored cryogenically – extremely cold. It boils off slowly even in very well insulated vessels and you get a garage or car full of Hydrogen which makes a lovely bang if there is a spark or hot object nearby.
Nearly all ‘good ideas’ for different fuel sources have a down side and many are less efficient than burning oil or coal directly. Losses throughout the system add up. You cannot say because the FINAL use is wonderfully efficient it is overall.

Sorry, the only way to get O2(oxygen) is to have a prescription. Why don’t you get another doctor? You can even explain to the doctor you have that maybe your mom only needs O2 once in awhile, and you can have the tank on hand just in case?

And to answer the second question, yes, you can give yourself too much oxygen, it is called hyperoxygenation. I imagine the pill that your doctor gave your mom is called nitro, and she should tell him that oxygen could be tried before the pill. Good luck.

Firemen do not carry oxygen tanks into a fire.

I think you are confusing the oxygen tanks they have on ambulances with the compressed air tanks that firemen wear on thier backs.

Compressed air = breathing air = the same as normal air
(this is what the firemen have)

Oxygen tanks = 100% oxygen = not the same as normal air
(this is not what is taken into a fire)

Also, for the record, Oxygen is NOT flammable, but oxygen is one of the three things that is typically needed to support combustion. So it is true that if you add pure oxygen to a fire, the fire will burn hotter and faster.

serious question lol. my mom’s on an oxygen tank with the hose in her nose, and she read some warning that theres a possibility that if she’s too close to an open flame the oxygen could ignite. how likely is that though? she’s paranoid and won’t go within 10 feet of a flame like the gas stove, a candle, etc. she’s also even worried about going too close to the microwave when its on, or the oven, and now won’t even get one of those portable tanks of gas filled at a gas station lol.

It can happen, and she SHOULD not get close to an open flame. My gf was in the hospital for a week after she contracted H1N1 (Swine flu). When she was released the technician warned her to be cautious around her mother and sister who smoked. Btw, some gas stations sell propane gas for residential and camping trailers, and the like. If you DID buy oxygen from a gas station it would unlikely be fit for human consumption!

A bottle holds pressurized gas, just as you would see a mechanic take an airbottle out to a car/plane/trailer and fill up the tire with compressed air.

The o2 generators utilize a chemical reaction that is initiated when the 3 chemicals are mixed… Which occurs when you pull down on the mask. The resultant chemical reaction generates about 15-20 minutes of o2 for your mask. The problem with Valujet 592 was the generators when they fire off, exotherm up to around 500 degrees F and they were improperly rigged/packed/shipped… So the chain reaction created a fire that incredibly intense and brought down the aircraft.

EloiseG answers:

First, the tanks of “air” that people breathe contain gaseous air (or oxygen) not liquified. Scuba tanks are compressed to usually around 3000 psi. (about 200 times the content of atmospheric air for the same volume. No one breathes liquified oxygen because 1) as liquified oxygen turns into gas (ie boils) it consumes a great deal of energy and gets very very cold ( about -300 F) and 2) pure oxygen would be extremely reactive.

Second, the process for filling an “air” tank is via a compressor (such as one you would use to fill your bike tires) except especially designed for breathing air. Meaning oil free and with organic vapor and particle filters to purify it so you don’t get sick.

Third, to make liquified oxygen, you start with air. Then process it through cryogenic cycles to liquify it. That includes compressing it, exchanging the heat, allowing it to expand adiabatically (without heat exchange), then compressing it again. After a few cycles, you have liquified air. The liquid air is then run through distillation towers that result in a fractional distillation to seperate the oxygen from the nitrogen and other trace components.

FIRE! Will Hydrogen burn without oxygen present?

I know from elementary school that the triangle of fire is FUEL, OXYGEN, HEAT. Take away any one of those and a fire will go out. I was wondering if a tank of pure hydrogen could burn inside without the presence of oxygen. I know that gas won’t burn without oxygen, so I was wondering.

I’m trying some hydrogen experiments and don’t want to have an unpleasant experience. I’m generating hydrogen AND oxygen from water using electrolysis. Then I want to run a small gas motor off the hydrogen. I know that a backfire from the engine could send a flame back through a hydrogen / oxygen rich tube into the generator chamber and have an explosion, and that is what I want to avoid.

I know how to build a barrier to prevent the flame from reaching all the way back to the chamber, but the barrier needs to maintain a water level, and if that level should dry up, then I have an explosion danger.

You’ve seen those “Run your car on water” ads, well, I’ve been doing some experiments with that. So far, I’ve been able to produce 300 ml of HHO gas, about 0.03% of the volume of air a four cylinder engine will use at freeway speed. That yielded no measurable increase in mileage, so I need to up the gas production. However, large amounts of oxygen rich hydrogen are dangerous, so I’m working on a separator tank to remove the oxygen. Therefore, the question: will hydrogen burn without oxygen?

Can a collapsed lung reduce the amount of O2 one uses when receiving oxygen therapy?

My mom is on 3 Liters of oxygen. Two lobes are collapsed in the right lung. Her MD signed off for her to get a new regulator (?) for her O2 tanks to make them last longer. She was receiving continuous O2 but with the new regulator (I think it’s called a conserving device or something like that) she only gets O2 when she breathes in.

Her respiratory therapist told her that one tank should last about 4 hrs on 3L but one tank has lasted her almost 24 hrs. Could her partially collapsed lung be the reason why one tank is lasting her much longer than normal?

EloiseG answers:

There is no scientific evidence that any of the treatments you list can affect the course of cancer in any way at all.

Poly-MVA is a vitamin and mineral supplement; a quick google search finds it on sale for around $150 for an 8 oz bottle.

The Budwig Protocol – the flaxseed and cottage cheese diet – is a long discredited piece of quackery. Budwig’s supporters claim that it’s a supressed cancer cure (though information about it is readily available), and (hilariously) make much of the fact that she has been nominated six or seven times for a Nobel Prize for her work in this area; this means nothing of course, anyone can get nominated – my friend could nominate me for this answer.

The idea that shark cartilage could help prevent/fight cancer comes from a book called Sharks Don’t Get Cancer. Author William Lane decided that this supposed fact meant shark cartilage could prevent/cure cancer tumours in humans. In fact sharks do get cancer, even in their cartilage.

Gary Ostrander and colleagues from Johns Hopkins University have detailed more than 40 published examples of tumours in sharks, some dating back to the 1800s.

So far a total of 8 uncontrolled trials and 5 controlled trials have produced no evidence that shark cartilage is effective against cancer (the most recent study, by the American Cancer Institute, found it to be ineffective for lung cancer patients).

Hydrogen Peroxide? Hyperoxygenation therapy, aka bio-oxidative therapy or oxidative therapy, is based on the incorrect notion that cancer is caused by oxygen deficiency and can be cured by exposing cancer cells to more oxygen than they can tolerate. Hydrogen peroxide is one of the things proposed as treatment, but there is little or no evidence that it’s effective for the treatment of any serious disease. In fact it can be dangerous.

Ben Goldacre of the Guardian’s excellent Bad Science column writes:

‘For decades, optimistic alternative therapists have been claiming that hydrogen peroxide therapy can treat cancer and various infections (latterly including Aids), as well as improving tissue oxygenation: a quick hunt around the alternative therapy section of any bookshop, or the internet, will produce entertaining examples. The fundamental misunderstandings seem to be, as far as it is possible to untangle these things, that H2O2 is water with a bit of extra oxygen, that this can be used by cells as normal oxygen, or as some form of special oxygen inhibit enzymes in tumor cells, or produce “glyoxylide” which has alleged healing properties but has never been isolated. It can be jolly dangerous, and several pseudioscientists have been successfully disciplined for lying about it ever since Dr Koch, its inventor, was first censured by the FDA in 1942.’

Never heard of Dr Coldwell, but there is no evidence that stress causes or contributes to cancer, and certainly no evidence that stress reducing CDs have any effect on tumors. Cancer’s stressful, and reducing stress will help some people feel better and cope better.

I don’t know much about traditional Chinese medicine, but it appears to be mainly based around mysticism, and mysticism never cured cancer. Again, some aspects may be stress reducing and so help some cancer patients to feel better and cope better.

You’ll find unsubstantiated testimonials for most of these things all over the internet; but you have no way of knowing if the person ever had cancer, much less that they have been cured. The plural of anecdote is not data.

There are always ruthless and greedy charlatans willing to exploit the misery and desperation of vulnerable people by selling them ineffective and sometimes dangerous ‘alternative’ cancer treatments.

It’s worth bearing in mind that in this context ‘alternative’ is just another way of saying ‘unproven’; if a treatment had been proven to be effective, it would no longer be ‘alternative medicine’, it would just be ‘medicine’.

Yes, the cure for cancer is indeed very simple, but it just doesn’t make any dough for the cancer industry people, so its kept silent, and instead folks with vested interests go around ad nauseam echoing the cancer industry party line about diet having no bearing on getting cancer, people having no control over their own health, etc. Thats great business for the medical industrial complex. You mentioned the nurses not checking blood PH, thats a case in point. Its common sense that heavily acidic “foods” like coffee, soda milk and meats promote poor health. That blood PH check would confirm that, but such a test interferes with the doctor dispensing the chemo prescriptions. And, as for cyanide in seeds, what about the toxic regimen of chemotherapy, the hair loss ( sometimes permanent) anemia, and immune destroying effects typically attributed to it. A little cyanide couldn’t be worse. There are also elements of cyanide in almonds, but so far nobody has advocated they not be consumed.

AS biology coursework needs to be completed! cell cycle and cancer?

i’ve been given a paragraph which i cant make sense of can anyone explain what it means in easier terms?

….The cells which are actively undergoing cell cycle are targeted in cancer therapy as the DNA is relatively exposed during cell division and hence susceptible to damage by drugs or radiation. This fact is made use of in cancer treatment; by a process known as debulking, a significant mass of the tumor is removed which pushes a significant number of the remaining tumor cells from G0 to G1 phase (due to increased availability of nutrients, oxygen, growth factors etc.). Radiation or chemotherapy following the debulking procedure kills these
cells which have newly entered the cell cycle.

EloiseG answers:

Tumors are especially hard to treat because they are made up of your own cells. So, how do you kill the cancerous cells while leaving the healthy tissue undamaged? One way to do this is to use that fact that cancer cells grow more quickly than normal cells – this is why they are so dangerous. Doctors currently use radiation or chemicals which kill rapidly dividing cells as they enter the cell cycle thus killing the cancer (and your hair) and leaving the rest of you relatively undamaged. So, any treatment that increases the difference in the rate of division between cancerous and normal cells improves the efficacy of these kinds of treatment. If you remove as much of the tumor as you can surgically (debulking), the rest of the tumor cells get more blood, nutrients and space and therefore start dividing more rapidly. This makes it the perfect time to treat with radiation or chemo and wipe them out.
Hope that helps.

Hi, I am very sorry about your uncle.
I lost my dad 9 years ago, when I was just 16, of lung cancer. He had stage iv when diagnosed.

Keep in mind, that end stage lung cancer is when all methods of treatment have been exhausted. I can only go on assumptions, but mine is that your uncle is end stage. I come to this conclusion based on cath. Insertion, lucidity and the hospital/medications.

Don’t be surprised if he seems half here and half somewhere else. Talks of loved ones passed, or even has a surge of energy and maybe tries to get the cath out. This is a normal reaction of the body as it prepares for dying.

From personal experience, my dad went into a semi-coma for about a day or so. When he awoke, he was half here and half not for another day. Then he had energy and wanted to walk around everywhere. We had him at home under Hospice care. He finally, later in the afternoon, came in to his favorite chair and had to be cleaned up from ‘accidents’, and drifted to sleep with the help of his morphine.. He never woke up. It was very peaceful for him and I feel that he was truly out of pain.

I think the timeline varies, but there is a general one.. The American Cancer Society, at Cancer.org has some great info on the dying process and the timeline is general but gives you excellent signs to look for and relate to.
